The Importance of Building Your List

No matter what type of Internet business you have, you have to build yourself an opt-in list without fail.

This includes you affiliates out there.

Just tossing together a website with your affiliate endorsements plastered all over it is not enough. Most people are not going to buy something the 1st time they see it. I can almost guarantee that most of your affiliate commissions will be made through your opt-in list, not directly from your website.

So why even bother creating a content-rich website?

Well, this content that you're providing will give your prospects a reason to subscribe to your list in the first place. If they visit your website and see a lot of graet information that they can benefit from, they're going to be much more likely to subscribe so they can get more of the same, right?

If your website is just one big billboard, why would anyone bother to subscribe? They'd just assume that they'll get nothing but advertisements in their inbox from you.

So what you need to do is offer them something of value, that's how you build a responsive list.

First of all, you want to offer them something immediately for signing up for your list. You can offer them things like:
  • Free e books
  • Free reports
  • Free mini-courses
  • Free software
  • Free videos or audios
Don't worry if you haven't created an e book or anything yet, you can use other people's stuff as giveaways.

One good way to get material to give away to your list is through resale rights products. You can either find free resale rights products to give away or you can purchase a collection of resale rights products pretty cheap.

Make sure that you actually take the time to look at the products you're giving away beforehand. There are plenty of crappy e books available out there but do yourself a favor and actually go the extra mile and give awat things that will actually help your subscribers.

This is step 1 in creating a relationship with them.

Your list will do you no good if they don't even bother to read your emails, right?

Elements of an Effective Squeeze Page

By Jonathan Budd

List building is one of the most important aspects of building your online marketing business. The easiest way to increase subscribers and build your list is with an effective squeeze page. A squeeze page normally contains a sales pitch, more information about your products, news articles or other topics of interest. Most importantly, it contains an opt-in form for your prospects to submit their name and e-mail address. You can also request telephones number and other details but most squeeze pages ask for basic contact information.

Your squeeze page should look like it was professionally designed in order to instill confidence in your prospects. Most people are unlikely to submit their personal information if a website looks amateurish. Expend the time and resources to setup a good looking squeeze page; this is well worth the extra effort. Instill confidence in your prospects with well-written copy. Ensure that your text is grammatically correct and free of typographical errors. If you are not good at writing copy, hire a reputable copywriter to assist you.

The information on your squeeze page should be interesting and relevant to your target audience. If you are attempting to attract car collectors then your squeeze page should contain current information about upcoming car shows, images of classic cars, articles on restoring old cars, etc.

Offering your visitors a bonus item for submitting their contact information is an effective way to entice them to comply. Some things that you can offer are an ebook about buying and selling classic cars, an ecourse on importing cars from overseas, list of contacts in the industry and so forth. The more exclusive the information seems the more likely you are to get sign-ups.

These techniques are highly effective ways to increase your list-building efforts.
